Next time you see colorfully glowing clouds, brace yourself. A rare (and perhaps scientifically unproven) phenomenon has been seen to precede a few earthquakes historically, with the recent one in Sichuan as an example.

Could be totally circumstantial and more like a rainbow phenomenon, but if it is a true reflection of electrical charge from an earthquake, perhaps it could lead to more detection mechanisms?
